Rose Oud: The Timeless Pairing, and How to Wear It
Rose oud perfume is the pairing of two of perfumery’s most powerful natural materials: the deep, resinous warmth of oud and the fresh, layered sweetness of rose. It is one of the oldest and…
Every YOUDH oil is alcohol-free, hypoallergenic and pH-balanced. Start with a single drop on a patch-tested wrist, then decide. Perfume you can actually wear on reactive skin, not a fragrance you have to hold your breath around.
Most fragrance you can buy in a UK shop is 60% to 95% ethanol by volume, sprayed into the air and evaporating off the skin within a few hours. For anyone with reactive skin, that alcohol is often the actual problem, not the fragrance ingredient it carries. Alcohol strips the skin's natural oils, disrupts the barrier, and is one of the more common triggers for contact dermatitis from personal-care products. YOUDH removes it completely. What sits on the wrist is a natural oud oil in a stable carrier, so the fragrance sits close to warm skin and releases slowly through the day. No alcohol layer. No projected cloud. No shock at the moment of application.
‘Hypoallergenic’ is one of the most reassuring words on a perfume label, and it is also one of the least regulated. As of 2026, the UK and EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 carries no legal definition of the term, and UK guidance from the Cosmetic, Toiletry & Perfumery Association only requires that a hypoallergenic claim must not imply zero risk of reaction (CTPA, Cosmetic Product Claims Guidance, 2026). YOUDH's approach is to earn the word rather than print it. No alcohol. No synthetic musk. No phthalates. No dyes. No undisclosed fragrance ingredients. If you have reactive skin, you can read what is in a YOUDH bottle in one glance, then patch test before wider use.
Every YOUDH bottle is a short, honest formulation, and the shortlist of what we leave out matters as much as the ingredients we include. No ethanol or fragrance alcohol. No synthetic musk (the most common source of fragrance allergy in mainstream perfume). No phthalates. No dyes. No undisclosed fragrance ingredients hiding behind the word ‘parfum’ on the label. What replaces all of that is a stable, non-drying carrier oil, authentic oud oil, natural resins, and single-origin plant materials, blended in small UK batches.
The result is a cleaner, affordable and a more authentic oud experience.

Every reactive skin is different, so the safest way to try any new fragrance, YOUDH or otherwise, is a 24-hour patch test on a small area first. It takes one drop and one day, and it saves the guesswork on a full-wear application. Here is how we recommend patch testing a YOUDH oil:
1. Apply a single drop to the inside of the wrist, or the crook of the elbow. Cover with a small plaster if you plan to wash the area during the day.
2. Leave the site alone for 24 hours. Do not wash, moisturise or apply anything else to the same spot.
3. Check the area at the 24-hour mark for redness, itching, small bumps or dryness. If nothing has developed, the patch test is clear and you can move to a full application.
4. If you have a known fragrance allergy, extend the patch test to 48 hours and repeat once more before wearing the perfume more widely.
For reactive or sensitive skin, the safest entry is YOUDH Light. It is our brighter oil, blended around citrus, orange blossom, rose and vanilla with a soft agarwood base, so the profile is closer to the everyday scent notes most skin has met before. YOUDH Night is the deeper option, built on woody, musky, amber and resinous notes for evenings and occasions. Both are alcohol-free, both are hypoallergenic, and both develop differently on every skin, which is exactly why we recommend the Sample Kit before a full bottle.
